About Our Church
Inclusivity
We are clear that the Gospel is for all people. We affirm and joyfully welcome people who are gay or lesbian, offering the full life of the church in blessing them, and we gratefully receive the special gifts of all.
Hospitality
We are a church that consistently shows hospitality to the community through our feeding programs, our work with the developmentally disabled, our projects with mentally ill people, and our hosting a myriad of community groups.
Commitment to Peace and Justice
We are committed to an understanding of the way of Jesus and of the cross that calls us to lives of non-violence and to seek a day of justice for all God’s people.
Global Vision
We have a strong care for the global mission of the church with members in mission in other countries as well as communities of need in our own country
Diversity
We are enthusiastic in our worship and use diverse liturgical and musical traditions, practicing a commitment to inclusive language both when we speak of people and of God.
Membership
We range in age and come from diverse backgrounds. We represent many different sectors of the community. We welcome those who come along to join us in this fellowship, and the search for God’s direction in our lives.
Central’s Affirmation of Welcome
We affirm with the apostle Paul that in Christ “there is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is neither male nor female” (Galatians 3:28). Christ has made us one.
As a community of God striving to be inclusive and open to diversity, we, the members of Central Lutheran Church, welcome all people to join us as we struggle to better understand the mysteries of God’s teaching and purposes for us. Although our world can seem to be a place of alienation and brokenness, Christ calls us to reconciliation and wholeness. We are challenged tb Christ to care for, to love, to understand and to listen to each other, regardless of our race, age, gender, marital status, physical and mental abilities, sexual/affectional orientation, national origin, or economic status. We celebrate the special gifts that each has to bring!
All people are welcome within the membership of Central Lutheran Church upon making the same affirmation of faith made by all members of the churches of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America. And, as members of this church, we are all expected and encouraged to share in the sacramental and general life of this congregation. We celebrate together our unity as God’s people.
